Ms. Suda's Class Wins Adopt a Cow Contest
Congratulations to Ms. Suda’s class! Her fifth-grade class won a special visit from a dairy farmer as part of the New England Dairy Council’s “Adopt a Cow” program.
Ms. Suda’s class was one of 33 classes in Norwalk Public Schools that signed up to participate in the Adopt a Cow program, and her class was randomly selected for this very special experience.
The dairy farmer is from Oakridge Dairy in Ellington, CT and visited Marvin in November. Students learned about the cows, how the farm is run, and got answers to any and all questions about their Adopt a Cow.
The Adopt a Cow program provides educators a fun and engaging year-long virtual educational experience for their classrooms. At the heart of the program is the ability for students to learn about a baby calf and follow her life cycle throughout the school year while paired with a New England dairy farm.
Through photo and video updates, immersive, hands-on learning activities and the free curriculum provided by Discover Dairy, students gain a deeper understanding of dairy farming and how milk is produced before it reaches their table.
